Main Dojo

In August 2008 Seishin Shotokan Karate celebrated the official opening of our state-of-the-art dojo.  In the two years since opening our first dojo, the economy changed quite dramatically and we were able to secure a much better deal on a brand new facility just recently.  Our new dojo continues the same theme of top quality design and functionality and is housed in a brand new building with a large main floor and an air-conditioned reception room.

The main training floor can easily accommodate up to 20 students or more in one class with additional space for a changing room, kitchen area and of course a bathroom.  The second room is our main reception area with plenty of parent seating, our pro shop and coming soon a closed circuit TV system for watching the weekly classes.

The flooring, although it looks like a traditional wood floor, is actually made up of 1 inch thick mats that help to provide a comfortable surface that is very forgiving on the joints, yet firm enough to practice our particular style of Shotokan Karate.  The flooring also allows us to practice takedowns and sparring drills with an extra sense of safety.

The main wall (the shomen) has seven 6’ by 5’ mirrors for a total stretch of 35 feet.  Each mirrored panel is made of a special material called Mylar which means that there is no risk of any shattered glass causing injury to students.  These mirrors are safe, light and have an exceptional reflective quality.

For use in our classes we have a fully equipped floor area that includes several Wavemasters, body shields, padded focus targets, sparring gear and other necessary equipment items for our different classes.
