New Dojo!!

In August 2008 Seishin Shotokan Karate celebrated the official opening of our brand new dojo.

Our new facility is 4000 square feet with two separate rooms.  The main room is 2400 square feet and includes a 1500 square foot training floor, plenty of seating for watching classes, a pro shop and of course a reception area.  The second room of 1600 square feet is still under construction and will include a second training floor of approximately 650 square feet, an office, some changing rooms, a parent lounge and also extra seating for viewing classes.

The flooring, although it looks like a traditional wood floor, is actually made up of 1 inch thick mats that help to provide a comfortable surface that is very forgiving on the joints, yet firm enough to practice our particular style of Shotokan Karate.  The flooring also allows us to practice takedowns and sparring drills with an extra sense of safety.

The main wall (the shomen) has eight 6’ by 5’ mirrors for a total stretch of 40 feet.  Each mirrored panel is made of a special material called Mylar which means that there is no risk of any shattered glass causing injury to students.  These mirrors are safe, light and have an exceptional reflective quality.

For use in our classes we have a fully equipped floor area that includes several Wavemasters, body shields, padded focus targets, sparring gear and other necessary equipment items for our different classes.
